Brazil’s Sectoral Plan for Agriculture and Livestock is part of the Plano Clima Adaptação framework and aims to strengthen the resilience of agricultural and livestock production systems to climate change. The plan focuses on increasing the adaptive capacity of the sector through public policies, promoting sustainable and climate-resilient farming systems that maintain productivity under changing climate conditions, and conserving and sustainably using genetic resources to support the adaptation of agroecosystems. Through these measures, the plan seeks to enhance food security, rural livelihoods, and the long-term sustainability of Brazil’s agricultural sector.
Main objectives are:
- Increase the adaptive capacity of agricultural and livestock production through public policies.
- Adapt agricultural systems to climate change while maintaining productivity, sustainability, and resilience.
- Promote the conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources to improve agroecosystem adaptation.
