Summary

This Thematic Biodiversity Plan is part of Brazil's Adaptation Climate Plan. In the current context of climate change and shifting production and consumption patterns, Brazil faces significant challenges related to its biodiversity. Therefore, the main objective of this Plan is to prevent the loss of biodiversity in the short, medium, and long term.

The Plan brings 3 specific objectives:

  • Ensure urgent management actions to halt the extinction of threatened species and population declines;

  • Ensure management actions to reduce the loss of ecosystem resilience, while maintaining and strengthening the provision of associated ecosystem services; and

  • Increase landscape connectivity to enable biodiversity to adapt to climate change.
