The Sectoral Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management is part of the Brazilian Adaptation Climate Plan. The Sectoral Plan is aligned with the following objective of the National Adaptation Strategy: To increase the resilience of populations, cities, regions, and infrastructure in the face of the climate emergency. The main goals are:
1. Reduce disaster risks, taking into account the types of disasters and priority areas in the country, by promoting non-structural (measures and instruments) and structural (works and structures) actions for prevention, mitigation, and preparedness, in the context of climate change;
2. Reduce damage and losses caused by disasters, taking into account the types of disasters and priority areas in the country, by promoting non-structural (measures and instruments) and structural (works and structures) response and recovery actions, in the context of climate change; and
3. Strengthen governance and institutional and social capacities to promote coordinated and integrated actions with the sectors, agencies, and entities involved in DRR.
