Summary

The objectives of the Sectoral Plan for Tourism Adaptation were defined from the perspective of reducing risks to tourism in Brazil caused by the main climate threats and vulnerabilities. Considering that climate impacts can affect multiple dimensions of tourism development, this sectoral plan brings the following goals:


• Sectoral Objective 1. Promote the sustainable development and resilience of tourist destinations through the implementation of climate adaptation practices that strengthen the local ecosystem and foster environmental awareness, as well as the conservation and preservation of environments, generating benefits for tourists and local communities.


• Sectoral Objective 2. Promote climate resilience and safety in Brazilian tourist destinations through integrated adaptation solutions, aiming for sustainable and safe tourism in the face of climate challenges.


• Sectoral Objective 3. Value and contribute to the protection of the lifestyles, traditional knowledge, and cultures of tourism communities dependent on or linked to natural and cultural heritage, with a focus on promoting climate justice.
