Brazil’s Sectoral Plan for Energy aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector through the expansion of renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, sustainable fuels, and low-carbon technologies while maintaining energy security and supporting a just energy transition. Main goals are:
- Expand the participation of renewable and low-carbon energy sources in Brazil’s energy matrix (wind, solar, hydropower, biomass, hydrogen and other renewable energy sources);
- Promote energy efficiency and reduce energy intensity across economic sectors.
- Accelerate the deployment of electrification and other low-carbon technologies
- Align energy planning and investment decisions with Brazil’s climate targets and net-zero pathway.
