These grants helped Canadian homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes by making upgrades such as switching to heat pumps for heating and cooling, installing efficient windows and doors, and improving home insulation. Grants were provided from $125 to $5,000 to homeowners to get back a portion of the costs for eligible and recommended home retrofits. A maximum contribution of $600 was available to cover the costs of pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations, if homeowners completed the grant process, including at least one retrofit. Applications were open from May 2021 to February 2024.
