2008MitigationLegislativeLaw
Sectors: Energy
This Ordinance provides the legislative basis for the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme (MEELS). Under MEELS, consumer products must be labelled with information on the product's energy efficiency performance. This Ordinance aims to facilitate the public in choosing energy efficient appliances and raise public awareness on energy saving. The labelling requirements apply to products that are supplied in Hong Kong. The Ordinance grants authorised officers a number of enforcement powers, including power to inspect and fine non-compliant persons.
