This Bill establishes the regulatory framework for carbon credit issuance, trading and the use of revenue from carbon credit transactions through benefit-sharing mechanisms. It creates guidelines for the international sale of carbon credits generated from mitigation activities in Kenya and engagement with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. 

The Bill creates the Carbon Credit Trading and Benefit Sharing Authority which regulates and oversees carbon trading transactions and the Carbon Credit Trading Tribunal which settles unresolved disputes between stakeholders involved in carbon trading.
