The program represents one of the planned activities of the 2021 Action Plan of the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. It represents a strategic framework for circular economy in the Republic of Serbia, covering the sectors of waste management; water management; renewable energy sources and energy efficiency; chemicals management; green public procurement and voluntary instruments; economy policy; innovation and public awareness. This program takes a systematic approach to supporting the green transition in the Republic of Serbia by stimulating the development of a circular economy. It seeks to support the efforts of businesses and municipalities in contributing to the green transition, educate relevant local stakeholders, encourage innovation by strengthening the cooperation of the business and academic sectors, and strengthen environmental protection through the application of green public procurements and other voluntary instruments. This program was prepared through consultations with stakeholders, relevant institutions, and the general public.
