Emirates Youth Climate Strategy 2018-2021

The Emirates Youth Climate Strategy provides an integrated framework to enhance the role of youth in meeting the challenges of climate change in accordance with the Government's approach to develop an empowered future generation to achieve the UAE vision 2021, the 2071 Plan, the 2050 Climate Change Plan, the National Youth Agenda and the Arab Youth Strategy.

The Strategy comprises three strategic objectives:

  • Raise awareness about the issue of climate change among international youth;
  • Develop the capacities of youth to meet the challenges of climate change; and
  • Promote youth participation in decision-making and climate action. 

To achieve these objectives, the Youth Council at the Ministry will:

  1. Engage youth with decision-makers in climate change policy and strategic development;
  2. Develop youth capacities in climate change;
  3. Engage youth in international and local forums/conferences on climate change;
  4. Provide opportunities for pilot projects and research on climate change;
  5. Enhance youth participation in climate change volunteering programs; and
  6. Establish a dedicated youth platform on climate change.
