The Environmental Management and Coordination (Air Quality) Regulations set emissions standards for air pollution including greenhouse gas emissions. Under Section 14, occupiers and operators of certain types of facility are required to apply for emissions licenses and prohibited from emissions exceeding the levels set out in Schedule 3 of the Act.

Greenhouse gases are listed as priority air pollutants in Schedule 2 of the Act.
