Summary

This law banned the use of hydraulic fracturing for the exploration and exploitation of shale gas and oil.


The ban on fracking was later codified under Article L. 111-13 of the Mining Code.


France's restrictions on oil and gas exploration and exploitation were further expanded through Law no. 2017-1839.
