Law no. 98-56 (Framework Law on Environmental Management)
Summary
This Law establishes the general legal framework and the fundamental principles of environnment management in the country.
A Fund called the National Environment Fund is set up to finance the National Environmental Policy (art.15). This fund will notably be used in support of programs to combat desertification, including
reforestation, fight against bush fires, improve farming techniques and use of energy sources other than firewood, and for the promotion of the use of renewable energies and clean technologies (art. 17).
