The Energy Efficiency Act establishes the legal framework to promote efficient and environmentally friendly energy use and supply in Liechtenstein. It regulates the allocation of subsidies for energy efficiency measures and renewable energy projects, including the refinancing of loans under the EEG. The law also governs the purchase and remuneration of electricity from renewable and combined heat‑and‑power (CHP) plants and allows for the imposition of a levy on electricity consumption. Additionally, it sets rules for the management and use of state and municipal energy registers and implements Directive 2004/8/EC of the European Parliament on promoting CHP in the internal energy market.
