Summary

The vision of the National Hydrogen Strategy (NHS) and the Action Plan for Romania is to develop a hydrogen economy, with a focus on renewable hydrogen but with attention to low-carbon hydrogen at an affordable price, with a view of reducing emissions and sustainable and competitive economic and technological development, through the development of the following strategic directions for 2030:



  1. Decarbonisation of the economy through the use of renewable hydrogen in difficult sectors decarbonised by other methods (e.g. direct electrification impossible)

  2. Economic growth through sustainable development of technologies for industries difficult to decarbonise and focus on creating new jobs

  3. Technological development to ensure long-term mobilisation of the economyeconomy and to support the attraction of investment into the economy

  4. Energy security, through the use of hydrogen and Power-to-X solutions for optimising the integration of renewable energy sources and to achieve sectoral integration.
