The vision of the National Hydrogen Strategy (NHS) and the Action Plan for Romania is to develop a hydrogen economy, with a focus on renewable hydrogen but with attention to low-carbon hydrogen at an affordable price, with a view of reducing emissions and sustainable and competitive economic and technological development, through the development of the following strategic directions for 2030:
- Decarbonisation of the economy through the use of renewable hydrogen in difficult sectors decarbonised by other methods (e.g. direct electrification impossible)
- Economic growth through sustainable development of technologies for industries difficult to decarbonise and focus on creating new jobs
- Technological development to ensure long-term mobilisation of the economyeconomy and to support the attraction of investment into the economy
- Energy security, through the use of hydrogen and Power-to-X solutions for optimising the integration of renewable energy sources and to achieve sectoral integration.
