Summary

This Plan, approved by Decision No. No. 768/QĐ-TTg, sets out the following objectives: that by 2030, 50% of government buildings and 50% of residential homes will use self-generated and slef-consumed rooftop solar power; and to significantly expand renewable energy resources (excluding hydropower) for electricity generation, reaching a share of approximately 28-36% by 2030 and to 74-75% by 2050.

In addition, the Plan also aims to, by 2030, establish two inter-regional renewable energy industry and service hubs encompassing electricity generation, transmission, and consumption; renewable energy equipment manufacturing; construction; installation; and related services; and build a renewable energy industrial ecosystem in high-potential regions such as the North, South Central, and South regions when favorable conditions are met. The intention is to supply exports to Singapore, Malaysia and other regional partners.Actions include developing offshore wind power alongside solar power, onshore wind, nearshore wind, in order to produce new energy, such as hydrogen and green ammonia. This new Plan supersedes the previous version in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg on approving the National Electricity Development Plan for 2021-2030, vision to 2050.
