Summary

The National Strategy on Energy Efficiency (NSEE) provides the overarching framework for energy efficiency policy. It is designed to substantially improve minimum standards for energy efficiency and accelerate the introduction of new technologies through improving regulatory processes and addressing the barriers to the uptake of new energy-efficient products and technologies. It also aims to encourage and support innovation in energy efficient technologies and approaches.

It is based on four key themes:
- Assisting households and businesses to transition to a low-carbon future;
- Reducing impediments to the uptake of energy efficiency;
- Making buildings more energy efficient; and
- Government working in partnership and leading the way.
