Powering Up Britain' refers to plans setting out how the UK government will "enhance the country's energy security, seize the economic opportunities of the transition, and deliver on its net zero commitments". It consists of a Joint Overview document, an Energy Security Plan and a Net Zero Growth Plan. It is noted in the policy document that this will be the manifesto of the new Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (established in February 2023).&nbsp; On the same day as its publication, the government published the Carbon Budget Delivery Plan (providing detail to enable the delivery of Carbon Budgets 4, 5 and 6), its response to the Committee on Climate Change 2022 progress report, and its response to the independent review of net zero.&nbsp; High-level objectives include:</div><ul><li>Aiming for a "doubling of Britain’s electricity generation capacity by the late 2030s, in line with our aim to fully decarbonise the power sector by 2035, subject to security of supply, whilst recognising the role that UK’s oil and gas sector will play in that transition".&nbsp;</li><li>Support up to 480,000 jobs in 2030</li><li>Ramp up nuclear capacity in the UK to up to 24GW by 2050&nbsp;</li><li>Develop up to 50GW of offshore wind by 2030</li><li>Quintuple solar power by 2035&nbsp;</li><li>Ambition to phase out all new and replacement natural gas boilers by 2035 at the latest&nbsp;</li><li>20-30mtpa of carbon storage and four operational CCUS clusters by 2030&nbsp;</li><li>Up to 10GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030&nbsp;</li><li>Up to 1GW of CCUS-enabled hydrogen in operation or construction by end of 2025</li><li>Install over 600,000 heat pumps p.a. by 2028&nbsp;</li></ul><div>

The process of adjusting to living in a changing climate. This can include altering behaviour, systems, and ways of life to reduce or avoid both current and future harms from climate impacts.

Any compulsory, unrequited payment to the government levied on corporations or individuals. This can be for environmental reasons, such as introducing a Carbon tax to set a price that emitters must pay for the greenhouse gases they emit.
