Summary

This regulation also known as Euro 7 amends Regulation (EU) 2018/858 to include new rules on penalties and types of infringements (Article 19). It repeals Regulations (EC) No 715/2007 and (EC) No 595/2009, effective from 1 July 2030 and 1 July 2031, respectively (Article 20). The main aim of the Regulation is to establish “common technical requirements and administrative provisions for the emission type-approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles, systems, components and separate technical units, with regard to their CO2 and pollutant emissions, fuel and electric energy consumption and battery durability.”

Some of the key provisions of the Regulation are:

Article 1 establishes the technical requirements and administrative provisions for emission type approval and battery durability.

Article 2 defines the scope, covering various categories of motor vehicles and trailers.

Article 6 outlines the durability requirements for vehicles, systems, components, and separate technical units.

Article 15 empowers the Commission to adopt delegated acts to amend the regulation based on technical progress.
