Summary

The Romanian Transport Master Plan 2016-2030 and 2021-2030 Investment program for the development of transport infrastructure in Romania for the period 2021-2030 represents an update of the Romanian Transport Master Plan approved in 2016, without modifying its important aspects, but using the experience gained at the level of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the beneficiaries it aims at an efficient course of projects so that at the end of the decade a large part of the development gap compared to the other Member States is recovered, as well as an active participation in the modernization of European connectivity and the introduction of new sustainable technologies.

Considering the transition period between the two multiannual financial years 2014-2020 and 2021-2027 respectively, considering the fact that the General Transport Master Plan and the related Implementation Strategy were adopted in 2016, as well as analysing the need to correlate the relevant public policies in in order to achieve the necessary infrastructure objectives at the national level, this document has a triple role of:

  • prioritisation of investments constituting a favourable condition in view of the new multiannual financial framework,
  • update of the implementation strategy of the General Transport Master Plan of Romania through this investment program, which will replace the strategy approved in 2016,
  • reference framework document for the relevant public policies and for all institutions involved in the achievement of national transport infrastructure objectives.
