<p>Lebanon's National Agriculture Strategy (NAS). 2020-2025 recognises climate change as a major threat to the security of the agricultural sector, and names climate resilience among its five overarching pillars: restoring the livelihoods of producers; increasing agricultural production; enhancing efficiency of value chains; improving climate change adaptation and sustainable management of agrifood systems and natural resources; strengthening and enabling the institutional environment. Climate-related provisions include plans for significant afforestation, both for climate mitigation and to build landscape-level resilience, and the use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector where possible. The strategy also notes that more efficient water usage is a key element of agricultural adaptation to climate change, and promotes the adoption of modernised irrigation techniques.</p>
