Master Plan for Electricity  2023 – 2032

<p>The Master Plan for Electricity 2023–2032 serves as a strategic policy framework to ensure Ecuador's electricity supply meets national demand sustainably and efficiently over the next decade, in a current energetic crisis. Guided by constitutional principles, it prioritises renewable energy expansion, energy efficiency, and infrastructure modernisation to support a transition toward a clean and resilient energy matrix. This plan outlines objectives and strategies for electricity generation, transmission, distribution, public lighting, and regional projects, including a specialised focus on the Galápagos Islands.The plan highlights Ecuador's commitment to diversifying its energy matrix through renewable energy sources like hydropower, green hydrogen, and distributed generation technologies. It incorporates climate resilience measures, integrating risk management for natural, anthropogenic, and climate-related threats. By aligning with the National Development Plan and global sustainability goals, the plan addresses the challenges posed by climate change, emphasising decarbonization and energy security. According to this policy, investment from public and private sectors is integral to achieving its goals, promoting a sustainable energy future while ensuring equitable access to electricity for all citizens, including those in remote regions.</p>
