As per Section 3 of the Electricity Act 2003, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is responsible for preparing a National Electricity Plan (NEP) in accordance with the National Electricity Policy every five years. Each NEP is produced in two volumes:&nbsp;National Electricity Plan Volume I on Generation and National Electricity Plan Volume II on Transmission.&nbsp;Each plan includes the review of the last five years, a detailed plan for the next five years and a prospective plan for the next five years.The plan sets out progress to achieving a target of 500 GW of installed non-fossil electricity capacity by 2030.
