These Regulations promote the efficient use and conservation of energy in Ghana, mitigating climate change by providing for minimum energy performance standards, the labelling of and supplementary product information on electric mains-operated distribution transformers, and the registration of models of distribution transformers. The Regulations also prohibit the manufacture, importation, sale, storage, donation, disposal, installation or use of distribution transformers that do not meet the stipulated minimum energy performance standards.
